Book Banning:Nazism in the New Millennium

100px-censorshipsvg.png

Book banning! Are these people serious! The arrogance of the human condition never ceases to amaze me.

If the content of any document or publication or book,  insults the moral sensibilities of a person or group then, don’t read them.  It’s not rocket science or do they want to ban that too.

This movement of banning books reeks sulfur akin to Hitler’s book bonfires and is quite nauseating.

This is the new Millennium, an era where progress is “King” and “Queen” yet, there’s a group of throw-backs who want to limit the right to freedom of the press and free speech.

Personally, I may not like what someone says or writes however, I will defend their right to say it.

I found a post about Book Banning on Certifiably Random blog and became outraged.

Google Books is joining with Libraries and Bookstores to expand the universe of books people can discover.

Some of the books that are being challenged or banned just blew me away: George Orwell’s 1984, Toni Morrison’s Beloved, John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath and more.

American Library Association is winding down their celebration to read event ending October 3.

Don’t let this event stop there. Stand up and be heard.

Stop the “knuckle-dragging-throw-backs”  from regressing society back to  blatant tyranny and totalitarianism.

A Beauty of a Miracle

After

 Before

It’s amazing how advanced modern medicine is.  There are heart transplants, kidney transplants, liver transplants and now a face transplant.

This may be old news but non the less, it’s still amazing. This woman, Connie Culp has a bran, spank’in new face.  What a lovely face she has too.

A midst her tragedy something good came out of it. Her husband the  nut job who got off with only 7 years for his attempted murder and suicide. Which, in my not so humble opinion, seems like a slap in her  lovely new face [pardon the pun] But now,  Connie is gorgeous.

When her husband shot her five years ago, Connie Culp was left without a nose, a palate or lower eyelids, but now she has revealed her new face.

I know the emotional pain of what  she went through will take years to heal. Now she has something to feel good about herself.

It’s amazing what the Doctors at Cleveland clinic did for her this past year. It makes me proud Cleveland is known for something this world class.

The 46-year-old mother of two underwent a procedure last December that lasted 22 hours at the Cleveland Clinic in the state of Ohio.

Surgeons transplanted about 80% of Culp’s face using facial tissue from a dead woman that was placed like a mask atop her own. Almost her entire face was replaced, except for the forehead, upper eyelids, lower lip and chin. READ MORE====>

I’m truly happy for this woman and pray life gives her much more to smile about and wish for the ugliness of her past to leave her in peace.

Excellent work you Doctors up at Cleveland Clinic, just excellent.

Odd & Heartwarming: Makes Us Gush!

Published by djwhite under Opinion, fun, laughter Edit This

Seems that the heartwarming news is usually about animals or babies or both.

This news from the Animal Planet made me gush and smile.

Fawn and Bob Cat Kitten Bond

So, the  coined phrase “natural born enemies”  is quite the misnomer in this case.

Animals in the News:

Di Sieno helped rescue the bobcat kitten in the photo a week before, near Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Ranch, where it was dehydrated and near death. Di Sieno nurtured it back to health. They rescued the fawn during last week’s wildfire. Although wild animals, especially of separate species, are never placed together due to regulations, in this emergency situation, they had no choice. During the mayhem of the fire, they were forced to put animals anywhere they could, since they had run out of crates large enough for the fawn. The kitten ran to the fawn, and it was instant bonding.

What Do You Use FaceBook and Twitter…

Published by djwhite under social networking Edit This

fbimages.jpg

twitterimages.jpg

for? Me, I like to advertise my blogs. I have a severe case of Bloggorhea [a word I picked up off the television]

I like the word logorrhea which I do have a severe case of too — so, why not play a bit of Scrabble with it and come up with a new word. Both words describe excessive use of rambling on — right!

Now the Internet rage is FaceBook and Twitter.  Believe it or not there are still people out there who haven’t a clue what either of them are.

I mentioned tweeting something to someone to a friend of mine and they had no clue as to what on earth I was talking about.

Twitter has become so big that you will see twitter advertisements on the television.

Your local News Stations tell their viewers “Follow us on Twitter”

Celebrities are using Twitter in droves.

Watching “The View” a couple of months back, the ladies were making a big to-do about how Barbara Walters was now on  Twitter.

Celebs from Shaq to Venus and Serena Williams to Paris Hilton, too… use Twitter. In fact the Williams sisters consistent users of Twitter. So consistent that Serena twits about every move she makes.

Right after her oopsey at the U.S Open, Serena tweeted her apologies to all her fans following her on Twitter. Then she went on to twit about her book signings and about her and Venus’ night at the Dolphins game.

I really wanted to send her a message but as you can guess, there was no way I could find to send her one. I guess she has that blocked — rightfully so, she’s got quite a few followers, can you imagine all the messages she would get.

Sports teams, Authors, News, Celebs and Television shows are beating down the doors on FaceBook too.

This makes me wonder if President Obama is right — are newspapers in trouble? Everyone seems to be flocking to social networking and the internet for their information. Should there be a bill to BAIL-OUT THE PRESS

FaceBook uses:

People use FaceBook for various reason. The average person uses it to stay in contact with friends and family. They post pictures, send messages and use it for community services. Many find friends from long ago to play catch up.

Businesses use it for their employees, or to advertise their business and plan meetings. Authors, writers use it to Network and sell their books etc…

Twitter uses

Tweeting a blog or web site you’re reading at the time. I have found that some people use it like a personal diary and tweet insignificant information but, to each his own. I’ve done that myself.

Personally, I like the micro blogging of twitter. There’s not a bunch of applications suddenly showing up on your page. Everything tweeted is short, sweet and, too the point.

If people want to click on the url you’ve tweeted they can.

FaceBook has bugs. Sometimes you can’t see pictures or you can’t click on an application or you can’t log in, the drama goes on and on…

Yet, FB is still growing. There’s even been talk about paying for it — that I won’t do.

So, what do you use FB or Twitter for?

I wonder does anyone else think that social networking is making society socially bankrupt? Has anyone done a study on that?

Show me the numbers.

What! This ACORN Isn’t an Oak Tree Nut!

Published by djwhite under Blogging, Lifestyle, Opinion Edit This

acorn_large.jpg

Really! There are some good recipes with the use of the Oak Tree nut — but I digress!

Some of us (who shall remain nameless) had to Google and find out exactly who and what is A C O R N.

Not everyone in America are staunch political activists.  We don’t spend our waking hours looking under rocks or into someone’s raunchy crevice, looking for dirt [God knows what ever else] against those whose political views differ from ours.

No, believe it or not, there are some of us Americans who spend our valuable time figuring out how to keep our gas and lights on.

Not only that! Many of us  eenie-meanie-minie-moe it to choose whether we eat dog food or people food for dinner.

So, low and behold I find out that the ACORN hitting headlines these days, is just another political activist group whose opposition(ers) are up-in-arms.

Well, “reach out and slap me stupid Ethel”  wouldn’t you know — again, it’s the Conservatives pitted against the Liberals and visa-versa.

Should I be shocked ?

ACORN’s original premise was to give a voice to the low to  moderate income families. Their ideology was to  work for social justice and stronger communities within these largely ignored and scoffed at communities.

ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is the nation’s largest community organization of low- and moderate-income families, working together for social justice and stronger communities. READ MORE

Not a bad idea until the uglies showed up.

ACORN’s first and biggest mistake was to take government funding.

Their second mistake: their hands became dirty.

No, no, no  — when an organization takes government duckies their life is no longer their own. It doesn’t matter what bipartisanship it falls under.

Besides, what ever happened to having a moral value system?

And, if  hands aren’t lily white [as in dirt or pigmentation take your pick] there’s going to be a problem.

Rest assured the other  side will look for some kind, any kind of grime  or manufacture it’s own to throw in their face — it’s the American way.

Now, ACORN’s protesters are calling them thugs.

What did anyone from ACORN expect? Giving advice on how to obtain a loan to run a brothel. Does anyone from ACORN know what the word t a c k y  means?

ACORN workers in offices in Brooklyn, Baltimore and Washington are caught on hidden camera advising filmmakers posing as a prostitute and pimp on how to obtain a loan to run a brothel. Credulous ACORN housing and tax advisers readily volunteer information to conservative activists James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles, the supposed sex traffickers, on the best way to lie to the IRS and hide a prostitution ring involving underage, illegal immigrant girls. READ MORE

Look folks, most of the faces from ACORN that’s in the news, are “Black”  You do know how America is with stereotyping — you don’t, well, you should.

Many non-Blacks think that Prostitution, Pimps, Drugs,  go hand in hand with being Black. If you’re going to be in the lime-light and fight for social change, make sure all your ducks are orderly and lined up right.

There can’t be hint of any type of wrong doing. You should go over-board with showing moral fortitude. You must remember that there is a segment of American society that already thinks that anyone who doesn’t look like them or believes like them isn’t American and doesn’t like to share America’s good fortune.

Many, don’t want the people:

who clean their bathrooms, clean their offices, serve their meals, cook their meals, nanny their children, ask “how may I help you” at their favorite fast food joint,  cut their lawns,  clean their elderly’ parents’ butt in nursing homes, live in their slum rentals, receive their less than livable pay. . .

to have a voice too.

I’m serious and smashed with horse paddies — there still are those who think that: we can clean their house and cut their lawns but how dare us  want to live next to them and have our children receive the same quality education as theirs.

It’s just a fact.

And ACORN, how incredibly stupid are you?

How undereducated are you?

How classless are you?

Did you honestly believe the goings on within your organization wouldn’t be scrutinized — that every piece of toilet paper used and every booger flicked, wouldn’t be placed under a microscope?

Are you that naive?

Well, this is America, this is the land where you’re allowed to be as stupid, sneaky, without ethics — as you want to be.

The former administration raped the American people and the right bent over and asked for more — the left  said “no, no, it’s our turn”

What are those of us smack-dab in the middle suppose to do, leave the planet?
